Hi, I’m David Lawrence, and I’ve been chasing light, landscapes, and wide-open moments for as long as I can remember. My first “camera” was a pinhole made from an oatmeal box, a 7th-grade science project that introduced me to the magic of capturing light and developing film. I was hooked, and I never looked back.

I earned a degree in environmental biology, but my creative compass led me straight back to photography and photojournalism. Over the years, I’ve photographed editorial and corporate assignments spanning transportation, construction, and environmental projects. I’m especially drawn to panoramic “wide-view” images. The kind that make you feel like you’re standing right in the scene. My work has appeared in Time Magazine, Business Week, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic calendars, and even in hospitals, airports, and government buildings as part of “Visual Therapy” projects.

These days, I split my time between the sunny shores of Florida and the serene mountains of North Carolina.  Two very different places that keep my creativity fueled. Through this blog and my website, DLawrence.com, I share my favorite places and open spaces.  Photographs that bring calm, joy and a little spark of wanderlust.
